Has your body image or self-esteem ever kept you from participating in a belly dance event? If so, what was it? How did it change you? Did you resolve to get over your fears and eventually try it?

I’ve changed the name of this blog from ‘tribal’ bellydance to ‘fusion’ bellydance… as little that we do in our world is really inspired by “tribal” people, and the word has racist connotations in itself. i could go on, but its late. I encourage all dancers to do some research on bellydance and understand the roots of where pieces of the art form are coming from… and especially look into the word “tribal” and why people take issue with it.
